THE INVISIBLE WAR
A shattering, unforgettable documentary by Kirby Dick, "The Invisible War"
chronicles the ongoing horrors of rape of soldiers by fellow officers within the
U.S. military ranks. One after another, women (and some men) tell stories
of brutal sexual assault and the military's blindness and downright cruelty as
the very institution soldiers fight for refuses to seek justice for them and
makes them pariahs. (One soldier says that the rape itself wasn't as
horrific as the second "rape" by the military higher-ups who pretended the crime
didn't happen.) Mr. Dick uses a mix of devastating statistics and
heartbreaking first person stories. Important and compelling, "The
Invisible War" exposes some of the ugliest secrets of today's military, and
urges us to act. This is one powerful film, one that angered me and almost
brought me to tears. Released in the U.S. in June 2012. One hour
and 37 minutes. On DVD in the U.S. Distributor:
Docurama Films. Original
